SO I HAD THE WONDERFUL OPPURTUNITY TO MEET MY HUSBANDS VAENUKU SIDE, THEY HAD A REUNION IN UTAH AND IM REALLY HAPPY I WENT, HE HAS SUCH A HUGE FAMILY, WE FLEW OUT ON WEDNESDAY AND CAME HOME MONDAY BUT NOT BY CHOICE LOL!! WE WERE SUPPOSE TO BE HOME ON SATURDAY BUT BEING THAT WE ARE SO BLESSED TO GET A STAND-BY TICKET WE HAD TO EXTEND OUR STAY AN EXTRA 2 DAYS :(
THE REUNION STARTED ON THURSDAY, WITH A DANCE WHERE WE MET A MILLION OF HIS COUSINS, AUNTIES ,UNCLES , NIECES AND NEPHEWS, THE COOL THING ABOUT HIS REUNION WAS IT WAS JUST HIS IMMEDIATE FAMILY, HIS FATHERS SIBBLINGS AND THERE KIDS, I SWEAR THEY FILLED UP THE WHOLE CULTURAL HALL, I LOVE THE UNITY THEY SHARE AND THE CLOSENESS OF HIS FATHERS FAMILY, YOU CAN TELL THEY ARE VERY TIGHT KNIT. SO ON FRIDAY WE HAD A CARNIVAL AT THIS IS THE PLACE NEVER BEEN THERE TIL THAT DAY IT WAS BEAUTIFUL, AND TONS OF FUN PLUS FOOD EVERYONE ENJOYED THEMSELF ALOT, WE ENDED IT WITH A DANCE/TALENT NIGHT, FROM EACH FAMILY MEMBER, FROM OUR FAMILY WE HAD FAITHY AND ANE DO A TAUOLUNGA :) EVERYONE HAD GREAT NUMBERS. AND SATURDAY WAS THE LAST DAY OF ALL THE FESTIVITIES IF WAS A FAREWELL BBQ, SAID OUR GOOD BYES AND GOT TO LISTEN TO HEARTFELT TESTIMONIES FROM FAMILY MEMBERS, AFTER THAT WAS OVER I HAD A GREAT OPPURTUNITY TO MEET THE MAN THAT STARTED THIS LEGACY, TEVITA MAPA VAENUKU, MY HUSBANDS GRANDPA, A MAN THAT WAS WELL RESPECTED IN THE TONGAN COMMUNITY, OUR CHURCH BUT MOST OF ALL IN HIS OWN FAMILY, I NEVER GOT THE OPPURTUNITY TO MEET HIM WHEN HE WAS ALIVE, BUT I KNOW HE WAS LOVED BY SO MANY MY HUSBAND SPEAKS SO HIGHLY OF HIM AND THE GREAT FAITH HE HAD IN OUR HEAVENLY FATHER, ONE THING MY DAD TAUGHT ME AS I WAS GROWING UP WHEN FINDING A BOYFRIEND IS LOOK AT THE BOY IS FATHER BECAUSE THAT IS THE MAN HE WILL BECOME, AND AS I LOOK AT MY HUSBAND AND HIS DAD THEN HIS GRANDPA, I KNOW I MARRIED THE RIGHT MAN, AS LONG AS HE FOLLOWS THE FOOT-STEPS OF THE MEN BEFORE HIM.
IM A VAENUKU NOW AND PROUD OF IT :)
.
i love family reunions!! glad you enjoyed it:)

ReplyDeleteawww Nane, that is so cute! you're hubby must be proud that you are a Vaenuku b/c he posted this link to fb heheh. But how special that must have been for you! To be able to get to know the greatness your husband comes from! Me, im soooo palangi lol, but i do always remember a story my grandfather (r.i.l) had told me. At the time i had no idea who any of the Vaenukus were(as in the ones i know now;)...but my gradfather would tell me the story of Tevita's father. ive always learned that he too was a strong man of faith. There was a bad storm in Tonga, and it was only my grandfather who was a young child and his older brother (i believe barely a teen) home. It was a Sunday and Tevita's father (pls forgive me for forgetting his name, but i know its fred sr's grandpa) was close enough to their home in Nukunuku, so he went and gathered the two young boys, made them change into their sunday best and conducted an entire church meeting/sacrament with just the two young boys. My aunts still bring this story up whenever we are talking about/reffering to faith built stories:)Because He (Tevitas father) knew the church was true, he knew how important it was for even these young children and only TWO in the congregation to still renew their covenants:) Ok, sorry for my novel, but when i read your blog it totally reminded me of this story.
ReplyDeleteI AGREE WITH YA ESETA FAMILY REUNIONS ARE THE BEST!!!
ReplyDeleteHI LOSE!!
MY HUBBY ISNT PROUD HE JUST LIKES TO HUMILIATE ME AND HE GETS A KICK OUT OF IT, IM GOING TO CHOKE HIM IN HIS SLEEP LOL!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING THAT STORY WITH ME, I WILL BE SURE TO SHARE IT WITH FREDDIE, ITS FUNNY BECAUSE WHEN MY MOM TELLS OTHER PEOPLE IM MARRIED TO A VAENUKU THEY ALL HAVE DIFFRENT STORIES OF HOW HIS GRANPARENTS HELPED THEM WHEN THEY WERE IN TONGA. IM TRUELY HONORED TO BE A PART OF THERE FAMILY, AND I HOPE SOME DAY OUR CHILDREN WILL BE ABLE TO APPRECIATE THERE ROOTS :)
